Get Free: Brighton Gig Picks This Week – 30/3/2015

After the stress, excitement and euphoria from the frolics of last week’s Give It Back Magazine showcase, I am keen to push the gig guide of this week and let you lovely folk what is out there in your humble city. There are some fantastic additions as April looms, big gigs for touring bands such as Errors who grace The Green Door Store this Tuesday, The Coronas headline the Komedia on the same night and Kill It Kid also arrive the aforementioned Green Door Store on April Fool’s Day. Here’s what we really dig and hope you do too:

Thursday 2/4/15 – Grasshopper take the initiative and headline this fantastic night at The Joker. After having these lovely folk play at our showcase last week, I cannot advocate seeing them enough. Without a doubt, scarily talented for their young age – Joy Division, Echo and the Bunnymen and the Liminanas. This band will travel right off into the distance sometime soon and leave you long behind so ensure you catch them soon. They are supported by the fantastic Spit Shake Sisters who bring their garage punk and angst, Them The Sky and Zombie Crash. £6 OTD and all in support of Autism Awareness, a fantastic show all round.

Friday 3/4/15 – Hurricane #1 show up at The Haunt and this show will be stellar. A previous member of the band includes ex-Oasis bassist: Andy Bell, this is not to distract from their fantastic talent however. Recently reformed, there is a wealth of expectation and intrigue surrounding their enigmatic presence. After previously been signed to Alan McGee’s Creation Records, singer: Alex Lowe is keen to demonstrate his bands worth with a new line-up. Set to be a fantastic show and £10 in advance. Very excited for this one.

Saturday 4/4/15 – Small Pond present their magic this week in the form of Heights, Porshyne, Valerian Swing and Toska. Heights are a three piece progressive rock band from Berkshire formed back in 2006. Heights found their identity; taking influences from Classical, Rock, Jazz, Fusion and Progressive bands, but with a view to create something honest and unique, an emphasis on progression and themes rather than traditional songwriting formulas. Porshyne act as main support who were listed in our top 15 bands to watch from Brighton this year, they bring their atmospheric rock to the table, taking from the likes of Radiohead, Tool and The Smashing Pumpkins, they are an exceptionally exciting band to see and definitely worth catching. £5 ADV.
