Get Free: Brighton Gig Picks This Week – 27/4/2015

Welcome to May. Welcome to sun, (more) beer, more music and Bank Holiday weekends. This is what we thought we should show you this week, however there are some exceptional gigs this week which are not mentioned – Teen Creeps give us an all dayer on Saturday at The Hope and Ruin, showcasing bands from all around this motherduckin’ globe. Philadelphia blues rockers, The Districts, show up at Green Door Store tonight, thee Dr Feelgood is at Concorde on Saturday, all this amongst so much more. Alas, get them teeth into this bit below. Scratch and sniff.

Monday 27/4/15 – Bosco Rogers, Lost Dawn and Kit Wharton – Acid Box and JD Roots bring their magic to The Joker. With another new record released, Hastings very own flower punk duo, Bosco Rogers will have you dancing no doubt about it. A groovy combination of 60′s summer sweetness, with a bit of dirty guitar and dreamy vocals thrown into the mix. Support comes from Lost Dawn who bring their raw rock n roll to the proceedings, Kit Wharton with his thrilling garage punk and Super Lungs with their smooth surf rock. 5 of your pretty pennies on the door.

Thursday 30/4/15 – We Calm do their stuff down at The Joker presenting Morning Smoke, Black Dolphin, Don’t Worry and Beachtape. Morning Smoke who launched their debut EP back in January have now gone from big to bigger, y’all. After they recently supported US band ‘Corners’ on their UK tour, the garage rock four piece return to Brighton to treat you lucky devils to a performance. Hold onto your hats. £3/£4 OTD. Megar.

Sunday 3/5/2015 – Hey, what’s that? It’s your May Bank Holiday Sunday?! Wow, I shall drink. Celebrate it down at The Hope and Ruin then, where Belgium’s wicked export, Raketkanon play us a free show. RAKETKANON’‘s debut album, RKTKN#1, is a combination of sludge, experimental drift and chaotic psychedelica. Think Melvins meets Tomahawk by way of early Butthole Surfers — Down tuned guitars, deformed vocals and droney bass synths, coupled with an ear for great songs, make Raketkanon one of the most interesting bands in Europe today. Support on the night comes from Ltnt. Zero dollar, zilch, nowt, la.
