March of the what? March where? March why?
Questions, questions and so many answers! March of the Mermaids 2015 is the third annual march which is around to celebrate Brighton’s wonderful sea life and sea culture and acts to raise funds for the World Cetacean Alliance.
So what’s the deal? Where do you meet? Catch the gang – and believe me, you won’t be able to miss them – at Hove Lawns next to the Peace Statue. They will be meeting from 12pm with an aim to set off on the march from 2pm and arrive at Bar Azure for 4pm.
So what to do after? Well, there’s an after party that will take place, tickets for this are two bob for you old folks and children can go free. It takes place from 4pm-8pm with discounts available on food and drinks. However! There is more. Yup, you candle burners, night owls or whatever you would like to term yourselves can head on down to The Tempest Inn from 9pm-3am. Here you can grab hold of your ‘fin-ales’ and dance the merry night away.
The overall price for your wristband for the march though is a mere two quid, this ensures the march can take place again next year and also goes towards the aforementioned charity. Dressing up is encouraged: mermaids, mermen, pirates, fishermen, seals – whatever sea related notion you can grab hold of with two fins, you can sure dress up as.
