Fröst is a collaboration between French-Swedish sound artist Johanna Bramli (vocalist for Stereolab offshoot Imitation Electric Piano) and Fujiya & Miyagi’s synth player and producer Steve Lewis. Combining their individual sounds, they create a hypnotic blend of pulsating rhythms and cautious sounds akin to Suuns, Jenny Hval and Clinic.
The Brighton based duo have recently released their debut single ‘Crackling On The Wire’ via Lost Room Records.’Crackling On The Wire’ is a ghostly tale muttered between French and English. The track brings together Fröst’s influences of the Nordic landscapes with minimal synths lines, motorik beats and psychedelic vocals. Johanna’s haunting Warpaint like vocals combine with evolving and vivid synth soundscape.
The video, which you can watch below, is shot through kaleidoscopic visuals – flickers of colour distort across the screen resulting in a real discordant and unnerving feeling. A great end to 2016.
